This is a MEMBERS ONLY event.

2018 BHPA S.O.S. Information

Signup will be on Monday October 16th – mark your calendars! We will send an email that day at 12:00 PM with a link to the Sign Up Genius. Sign up is on a first come first serve basis and there are 25 slots for each day.

The program will run from January through May, starting the week of January 8-12.
(The subsequent dates will be Feb 5-9, March 5-9, April 16-20, and May 7-11.)
You will be signing up for the same day for every month (for example, if you sign up for Mondays, you will attend on January 8, February 5, March 5, April 16, and May 7).
Each session will run from 3:45 to 4:30 PM. Each week, the children will be introduced to a new area of the school (library, art room, cafeteria, playground, and, lastly, a bus ride).

Q: I am not a member of the BHPA – can my child still attend SOS?
A: You must be a current member of the BHPA in order for your child to attend SOS. If you are unsure of your membership status, please email the membership chair at BHPAmembership@gmail.com. You can easily join the BHPA by going to http://www.bhpa.info/ and clicking on the ‚ÄúJoin Now!‚ÄĚ link

Q: Do I have to stay at the school during the SOS session?
A: Yes. A parent or caregiver must remain on site during the 45 min session

Q: Can I go in the room during the session to watch what is going on?
A: Unfortunately, not. The only parents who are allowed in the room with the kids are the 3-4 parents who have volunteered to help. (But let us know if you would like to volunteer – we still have some spots open!)

Q: Can I bring siblings?
A: Siblings cannot take part in the 45 min session – they will have to remain outside the room with you.

Q: If one of the dates in my chosen session doesn’t work for me, can I switch to another day that week?
A: We cannot guarantee that you will be able to switch your day. You can contact us the week prior to the session and we can let you know if there is availability on another day for your child to attend.

Q: If my child is sick, can I attend another session that week?
A: Same answer as above. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that they can attend another session. But you can check in with us and we will let you know that week.

BHPA Candy Drive

Help the BHPA Collect Halloween Candy & Non-Food Treats for the Wampus/Glendale Community Families!

Every year the streets around the Wampus School are closed off for the Armonk Halloween Trick or Treat Extravaganza. As you might have heard, from your friends and family in the area, the residents of this community give out over 2000 pieces of candy per house on Halloween night. In an effort to help the families in this community we will be collecting candy to donate to them.

In addition to candy you can also donate non-food items as part of the Teal Pumpkin Project. Every child wants to be able to experience the joy and tradition of trick-or-treating on Halloween. But kids with food allergies are often left out of the fun, since most candy is off limits. The Teal Pumpkin Project helps make sure all children will come home on Halloween night with something they can enjoy. All it takes is offering non-food treats, such as glow sticks or small toys, as an alternative to candy.

Please feel free to drop off your candy and/or non-food donation at the home of Little Helping Hands co-chair. Her address is 8 Jeanne Place РArmonk and is right in the heart of the Wampus community.

We will also be accepting donations at the New Member Meet up on October 7th.
All donations will be accepted until October 18th!

BHPA New Member Meet Up!

You DONUT want to miss the New Member Meet Up hosted by the Welcoming Committee.

Enjoy yummy donuts and coffee, make new friends on the playground and get creative with a Halloween-themed art project!

**We will also be collecting candy to donate to our neighbors on School Street who typically give out more than 1000 pieces of candy on Halloween!

Parents of 2018 Kindergartners: S.O.S Information

2018 S.O.S PROGRAM INFO

Kindergarten ‘School Orientation Sessions,’ fondly known as S.O.S, is an orientation program that runs monthly from January 2018 through May 2018 for children entering Kindergarten in September 2018.

Held at the Coman Hill Elementary school, this initiative introduces children to the school, promoting a feeling of comfort and familiarity among the incoming kindergartners. Monthly activities include visits to the library, cafeteria and art room, a bus safety demonstration and a ride on the school bus. Each session runs about 45 minutes from 3:45 – 4:30pm.

Signup will be in mid October so please keep an eye out for follow up information regarding the program as well as how/when to sign up.

All participants must be PAID BHPA members- so if you haven’t renewed your BHPA membership yet, please visit bhpa.info to pay online before signing up for S.O.S. !

Playgroup Sign Up is Happening

Playgroups are a perfect way to get to know other moms, whether you are a new mom, a full-time mom, a working mom or a mom of many! The Playgroup Committee coordinates preschoolers by age and interest to set up play dates in an easy and comfortable setting where kids and moms can play and meet others in the same phase of life.

Please donate new/gently used adult paperbacks, magazines, adult coloring books/colored pencils, and Spanish reading material. All donations will be given to caregivers and the families of Maria Fareri’s children’s hospital! Drop off your donation at the BHPA tent!
